GENEVA, Ill. | Jack Gessert and Christiano Versich scored two power-play goals each while leading the Chicago Steel to a 7-0 United States Hockey League win over the slumping Sioux City Musketeers Friday night at Fox Valley Ice Arena.
Chicago (18-18-6) scored a whopping five man-advantage goals en route to defeating Sioux City for the second time in about a week. All four of the Steel’s final-period goals came on the power play.
Winning goaltender Daniel Vladar (6-7-4), second in the USHL with a 2.11 goals-against-average, recorded his third shutout of the season. His teammate, John Lethemon, had blanked the Musketeers 3-0 last Friday at the Tyson Events Center en route to winning the league’s goaltender of the week honor.
Sioux City (18-21-1) was shut out for the sixth time this season. Five of the blankings have come against Eastern Conference teams.
The Musketeers will continue their weekend road trip Sunday afternoon with a 3:05 game at Young Arena against Waterloo.
